Yadkin water for Yadkin needs.

 Union County, NC

Intake Facility

A major component of the Yadkin Regional Water Supply Project is the new water intake and pump station located in the Town of Norwood on the west side of Lake Tillery.

The Town of Norwood already draws its drinking water from Lake Tillery. Its current water intake facility was built in 1949 and has not received major renovations since the 1980s. This project will replace the existing intake and pump station with a new facility. The facility will supply up to 600,000 gallons of water per day for the Town of Norwood, about 1.2 million gallons per day for Stanly County and 16.5 million gallons per day for Union County.

Features of the Water Intake

  • Houses mechanical and electrical equipment including vertical turbine pumps
  • Designed to fit into the aesthetic of the residential lakeside neighborhood
